About us

Choice Trailer Manufacturing, LTD. is a privately-held, family-owned trailer manufacturer based in Katy, Texas.

Heritage Forged in the Oil Field.
Quality Proven Every Day.

Our Heritage in Oil & Gas Mobility

Long before Choice Trailer Manufacturing, LTD became recognized for rugged, purpose-built heavy-haul solutions, our identity was shaped in one of the toughest proving grounds in the world: the oil field. Our early years were spent building lowboys capable of hauling drilling rigs into remote Texas leases—a place where equipment failure isn’t an inconvenience, it’s a mission-stopper.

In the early 1980s, founder Enrique Zanelli, recently out of the U.S. Navy, started a small equipment business in Houston. His mechanical instincts, leadership, and curiosity soon led him toward trailer design and fabrication. As a user-manufacturer, Enrique hauled alongside operators, watched the realities of job sites, and learned firsthand what the field demanded: strength, durability, serviceability, and absolute reliability.

As oil-and-gas operations expanded across Latin America and later into Europe, the demand for custom heavy-haul solutions grew. Choice Trailers stepped into that gap—designing and building equipment engineered specifically for drilling, completions, well service, pipeline construction, mining, and extreme-environment transport.

Durability, grit, and field-tested performance quickly became the Choice reputation. Our heritage was built by being in the field, understanding the work, and building trailers that simply do not quit.

Quality Control

The Foundation of Every Trailer We Build

Our history in oil & gas taught us one thing above all: quality isn’t optional—it’s survival. That mindset drives every part of our manufacturing process today.

At Choice, quality control is not a single checkpoint. It is an end-to-end discipline built into our culture, our workflow, and our identity. We build equipment for demanding customers who operate in high-risk, high-load, extreme environments. Because of that, our trailers aren’t just manufactured they’re verified, validated, and proven before they ever reach the field.

QC Process Engineered for Heavy-Haul Reliability

1. Engineering-Led Validation

  • Structural analysis and finite element modeling (FEM) guide every design.
  • Weld points, stress zones, and load paths are tested long before fabrication begins.
  • Senior engineers with decades in heavy-haul determine final approval.

2. Strict Material & Component Verification

  • Only certified, documented materials enter production.
  • Steel, axles, suspensions, hydraulics, and critical components undergo dimensional, hardness, and integrity checks.
  • Every part is batch-tracked for full traceability.

3. Precision Welding & Fabrication

  • All welders are certified for heavy-haul, high-stress structural applications.
  • Critical welds receive visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, and uniformity checks.
  • Frames are continuously measured to ensure proper geometry and alignment.

4. In-Process Assembly Audits

  • Supervisors inspect each assembly module before it advances.
  • Nonconformities are flagged and resolved immediately.
  • Dimensional accuracy is monitored from the first weld to the final bolt.

5. Functional, Structural & Hydraulic Testing

  • Hydraulic systems are pressure-tested.
  • Axles and suspensions are aligned and calibrated.
  • Braking, lighting, and wiring systems undergo full compliance testing.
  • Simulated load tests verify flex, torsion resistance, and structural performance.
  • Road tests confirm tracking, stability, and real-world functionality.

6. Final QC Certification

  • All inspection points
  • Material certifications
  • Engineering approvals
  • Testing results
  • Serial-number traceability

This documentation ensures complete transparency and provides confidence to operators and fleet managers who depend on equipment in critical operations.
